Game Research & Development Lab
PLAY ISA RESEARCHMETHOD
MOGLAB explores the intersection of games, technology, learning, and human experience. We bring together researchers, designers, developers, and students to experiment with new ideas, create meaningful game experiences, and investigate how games shape the way we learn, interact, and understand the world.

01/About the lab
A lab where research and production share a table
We treat games as both an object of study and a way of studying. A prototype is an argument. A playtest is an experiment. A shipped game is a result that reached people outside the building.
Our work runs from controlled studies of player cognition to production-grade games released to the public, and everything we learn on one side feeds the other. Researchers sit with designers, designers sit with engineers, and students work on real projects from their first week.
01
Investigate
Empirical studies of how people learn, decide, and relate to one another through play.
02
Prototype
Fast, disposable builds that turn a research question into something you can hold and play.
03
Produce
Finished game experiences built to a public standard, not just a demo standard.
04
Teach
Students join real projects and leave with a portfolio, not just a transcript.

What we investigate
R-01
Games & Learning
How play produces understanding that instruction alone does not — and how to measure it without flattening it.

Player Experience & Interaction
The moment-to-moment texture of play: attention, difficulty, feedback, frustration, and flow.

Social & Civic Play
What happens when games become shared spaces: cooperation, conflict, community norms, and civic imagination.

Projects
In development2025A Design Framework for Hybrid Tabletop Strategy Games Using Projection-Supported Digital Twins
This project explores a design framework for hybrid tabletop strategy games that combine physical game components with projection-supported digital twin technologies. The framework aims to enhance strategic decision-making, spatial interaction, and player engagement by dynamically connecting physical game states with responsive digital information and visual feedback.
